Welding jacket design upgrade – find a new level of lightweight comfort!

It’s time to throw that old welding jacket away (or maybe recycle it for something,) because Weldclass has taken all those little annoyances common amongst leather welding jackets, and fixed them in their upgraded new design! Let’s learn a bit more…

What’s new?

Even if you’ve only just broken in your current welding jacket, this upgraded design is worth a try – here’s what’s new:

Taking the weight off your shoulders – literally!

Try on the new Promax BL7 and you’ll instantly notice a massive difference in weight compared with your old style welding jacket. The upgraded design has a whole new level of lightweight comfort while maintaining the full-leather protection.

Why the change?

While there is nothing “broken” in the previous design, Weldclass found a common complaint with leather jackets is that they are heavy and hot. Of course when it comes to protection against welding spatter and sparks, a leather welding jacket offers the best protection and wear life. But that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice comfort to get protection and durability…

So work began on some improvements to the old design. The result? A premium leather jacket which offers the same level of protection – but is up to 40% lighter in weight… and boasts some new features! Now that’s progress!

Upgraded design – new name…

Ok, this isn’t exactly a design feature, but we’ll put it out there from the beginning – to avoid confusion between the old and the upgraded design, Weldclass has given the upgraded design a new name – the Promax BL7 is what you’ll want to order from now on!

Off-set opening

Openings up the middle are so last year! The Promax BL7 has the opening to one side of the jacket to prevent exposure where the operator most needs protection – right in front of them. This also helps to extend the life of the jacket and makes it more comfortable to wear.

Hook and loop fastening on opening, cuffs & collar

Traditionally, welding jackets use press studs for fastening on the opening, cuffs and collar. We all know these studs aren’t always the easiest things to press together, but they also require reinforcing with additional layers of leather to prevent the studs tearing off during use.

The solution? The Promax BL7 uses hook and loop fastening, double stitched with kevlar – firm closure with reduced weight and increased comfort!

Premium cowhide leather

This is one thing that hasn’t changed, but we can’t go without mentioning it – Weldclass only use the best quality A-grade cowhide leather.

New extended back

The Promax BL7 has an extra long back on the jacket to provide better protection to the lower back – especially when bending, kneeling and working ‘out of position’.

Kevlar stitching

Each and every stitch uses Kevlar thread… the best protection against heat, spatter, abrasion and seam failure.

Larger panels with fewer seams

The more joins and seals a jacket has, the heavier it is. The Promax BL7 uses larger sections of leather, for example, only 1 or 2 on the front or back, where many other jackets can use up to 4 or 5 panels.
